Matthew
I was having nightmares about my son drowning, but in reality he was sinking further and further into his own world and out of mine.  Matthew developed normally as a baby; he walked at the right age and he was very aware of the world around him.  Then, at about 14 to 15 months old, he began shutting off into his own little world.  He was so frustrated that he would bang his head on the floor.  Also, Matthew had painful abdominal bloating and explosive yellow diapers.

We worked with speech therapists, but made no progress.  During this time, Matthew was diagnosed with PDD (Pervasive Development Disorder).  PDD is a form of Autism.  Meanwhile, my son had quit responding to his name and playing with his brother.  Helplessly we watched as our son drifted into a world of silence and strange behaviors.

The county Mental Health agency told us about ABA therapy (Applied Behavior Analysis).  In the last few years, ABA has achieved DRAMATIC success in recovering kids from Autism.  Within 3 months, we had an ABA program set up and running in my little house.  It became part of our daily routine.  So we started using this therapy, and to our relief, ABA is producing remarkable progress in recovering Matthew from this condition.

Also, Matthew has responded well to a special diet.  In some kids with Autism, including Matthew, their bodies do not properly digest wheat and dairy.  So, Matthew is on a wheat-free and dairy-free diet.  Along with this diet, Matthew takes a handful of vitamins and supplements that his body needs to function properly.

Our problem is, we can`t afford all of the therapy, supplements and medicine that Matthew needs to beat Autism.  The state agencies,  insurance and the school district; all have either denied our requests for assistance outright, or substantially reduced the assistance they will provide.  We would like to fight them all, but we have to concentrate our time and resources right now on healing Matthew.

How Can You Help? - Make a donation through Paypal

We have set up a medical expenses account with Erin Morrison (Matthew's aunt) as the 3rd party administrator.  100% of all donations to this account will be used ONLY for Matthew's current and future treatment.  We need to come up with $2,000.00 to cover all of the therapy, equipment, supplements and medicine that Matthew will need this year.

Matthew is courageously fighting this condition, but he (and we) need your help.  Please help us to help Matthew Beat Autism

(Since we are NOT a non-profit, your contribution is considered a GIFT and is NOT tax-deductible.  Any questions about the integrity of our requests can be addressed to Erin Morrison at the1ebbers@hotmail.com)
