Not crazy about the name but i think the tech is there and i’m pretty sure i want one, i need to play around with one first though.
apple only drawback …
apple only drawback is things such as a camera and SD and some minor software things that apple holds back. no apple could have easily put every feature they have. but instead apple tends to slowly add features with newer versions of their products . small example first they release iphone (3G existed at the time) they later made a iphone 3g and finally 3gs (added video camera) apple could have released 3gs first but this is their trend of buisness

To me its an oversized ipod touch, iphone that you can’t put in your pocket. Exactly what market will this compete in? Will it be the tablet, Ereader, netbook or a portable gaming console?
I can still see people buying it just because its an apple (cool factor), but for joe schmoe, i can’t really see my self getting it.

@obsidanse : I’m not sure about that. It has a cell phone processor and cell phone OS so, coupled with its cell phone-like memory, only cell phone apps will really run on it. Anything bigger will require more hardware, which is probably coming in a few years. The price is what bothers me. For half the price I can get an iPhone that has a camera and (obviously) can be used as a phone. I can also put it in my pocket so it’s always handy–that’s a win. The iPad–that’s a fail.
why would you need …
why would you need a camera on the iPad?
I mean it is too large and cumbersome to just pull out in any social situation to take pics. I can’t see walking around a party with the iPad and taking random pictures. Or sitting on the beach using it as a camera.
I think Apple was spot on in not including the camera in the first generation. After the market responds to their product and gives them some direction on future needs, then more power to them.

@anatomyofluke : Adding a camera would double the number of uses for the thing. As it is, it’s pretty weak. On the other hand, the camera wouldn’t be much use without Flash but then, neither is web browsing.
